WAUSAU (WAOW)-- The results of a new national report rank the general health of Wisconsin counties.

It's part of a national designed to call action toward community health.

According to the rankings, Taylor County ranks the highest in North Central Wisconsin at 5th out of state's 72 counties.

Portage County ranks 16th.  Marathon County is 20th and Wood sits at 24th.

Some factors considered are access to healthy food, and environmental factors like pollution.

Health leaders say the results look good for our area.

"I would say it's 20 out of 72,  so that is better than being in the bottom quarter," said Joan Thuerer, of the Marathon County Health Department. "Is there room for improvement?Definitely."
