Wood County outsources services at Norwood Health Center
MARSHFIELD (WAOW) -- A Wood County Health and Human Services Committee says they're always looking to trim the budget, and they figured now was the time to do a little cutting.
The committee decided to outsource housekeeping and laundry services at Norwood Health Center in Marshfield to BSG Maintenance.
But, the change won't cost employees their jobs. Three employees are retiring while three remaining employees have the option to move into other positions at the facility, says committee member Mike Feirer.
"It's a decision the board has to make. It's not always an easy decision, but this one was a little easier," Feirer said. "We weren't losing jobs, because this one was by attrition more than anything else."
Employees impacted by the decision have 10 days to decide if they will stay at the health center and which positions they'd like to move into.
The facility administrator for Norwood Health Center says the move is expected to save about $130,000.
Feirer says the committee looked at outsourcing these services before.
