$1.7 million already spent on Supreme Court election
WAUSAU (WAOW) -- $1.7 million -- that's the amount already spent on the upcoming Supreme Court election.
Much of that money pays for commercial advertisements that are on the airwaves right now. A public policy group based out of New York University released the figures. They said most of the money being spent is coming from outside groups. The race is between incumbent Justice David Prosser, who's generally considered conservative, and challenger JoAnne Kloppenburg, who's seen as more liberal. She said she hopes voters key in on her real message.
"Don't pay attention to those," said Kloppenburg. "Instead focus on what you've learned from me as a candidate and my campaign and what you've learned from my opponent and his campaign and make your vote based on your knowledge not on these third party ads."
The public policy group says spending is expected to increase dramatically heading into Tuesday's election.
