White Lake school will be torn down

WHITE LAKE (WAOW) -- A school that dates back to the end of World War I will soon be torn down.

The White Lake School District plans to tear down it's 1918 building. Superintendent Bill Fisher said the building has structural issues.

It's located in the center of the district's complex and is currently being used for storage.

"The historical society is interested in any artifacts that may have historical value," said Fisher. "So the district has invited them to come and go through the items that are in storage."

The cost to raze the building is about $58,000. The school board and community are in the process of deciding what to do with that space in the future.
