Stanley S. Novak, 98, formerly of 632 Union Street Stevens Point died Friday April 1, 2011 at the Portage County Health Care Center. Born: June 5, 1912 in Chicago Illinois.

Son of the late Albert & Pearl (Maday) Novak. He came to Stevens Point as a child and attended local schools.

Stanley was a WWII Veteran. He entered the service on October 23, 1942. He was a Tech 5 in the United States Army. He served in Ardennes, Rhineland & Central Europe.

He received the good conduct medal, European/African/Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 3 bronze stars, WWII Victory medal, American Theater Ribbon, 2 overseas bars, Combat Infantry Badge & Expert Infantry Badge. He was honorably discharged on November 5, 1945.

His marriage to Dorothy Rouse took place on February 12, 1943 at St. Peter Catholic Church. She died on November 25, 2002. Stanley worked for Consolidated papers for 36 years as a shipping clerk, retiring in 1974

He was a member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 30 & National Catholic Society of Foresters. He enjoyed reading, playing cards and visiting with family and friends, traveling, watching sports on Television and tending to his garden.

Stanley did volunteer work for 20 years at the Stevens Point Police Department. He also worked for 18 months for the Civilian Conservation Corps.

Survivors include his son, Dennis Novak of Madison. Sister, Estelle Novak of Upland California. Also survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews.

Preceded in death by 4 sisters.

Funeral Mass: 10:30am Tuesday April 5, 2011 at St. Peter Catholic Church. Rev Robert Letona officiating. Burial will follow in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation on Tuesday from 9:00am until time of services in the St. Faustina room at the church. Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home Stevens Point is assisting the family with arrangements.
