MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Zack Greinke is expected to throw from the mound later this week as he continues to recover from a cracked rib.
Greinke was the team's biggest offseason acquisition. He came to the club in a six-player trade from Kansas City in December, but was injured playing basketball in the spring.
The 2009 AL Cy Young winner is expected to miss at least three starts and manager Ron Roenicke says there's still no timetable for his return.
But Roenicke says Greinke has progressed well, especially in the last week. Greinke is scheduled to throw off flat ground again Tuesday and, barring any setbacks, will throw off the mound before the end of the week.
