High voter turnout

WAUSAU (WAOW) -- Newsline 9 spoke with some voters in Wausau. They say the overriding reason that brought them out to vote was the race between Prosser and Kloppenburg.

The Marathon County clerk tells Newsline 9 voter turnout was 38%.

Wood County leaders say they expected a 20% turnout but doubled that, getting about 40% of registered voters to the polls.

One person says everything that's happened in Madison is why she decided to make sure she voted.

"Historically, I vote whenever there is an opportunity. The climate of the state right now being so volatile, we thought you definitely have to put in your two cents and place your vote," Wausau resident Aimee Glaser said.

A number of folks cited protests in Madison, and the debate between Republicans and Democrats over the budget as a reason they participated.

One person says the supreme court justice is not a partisan election, but that position could have a huge impact on the state.
