(WAOW) - The Rosholt baseball team made its second trip to state in three years last season.
Eight players who played in that game return this spring. That, mixed with a talented group of freshman, has the Hornets feeling good about a return trip to Appleton.
Even those outside of Rosholt hold high expectations for the Hornets. They start the year ranked second in division 4 and are the favorites to win the league.
Yet, the Hornets haven't listened to any of the chatter and instead, are focused on playing their best ball each time out.
"It's nice, it makes nice reading material for people, but other than that, it doesn't mean a lot, you've got to go out and play the game," Rosholt head coach Jack Brooks said. "Actually, nobody's really mentioned the fact of the rankings, which is to our advantage, I guess."
"We try and focus just game to game, focus on the game we're playing right then," Rosholt senior shortstop Shawn Skibba said. "As long as we use our bobbers on defense and don't get too jiggity and start throwing the ball around too much, I think we'll be alright."
"I don't really care what ranking we are," senior second baseman Dillon Zdroik said. "We could be last and I wouldn't care. We've just got to play solid defense and play as best as we can."
