$1 million Powerball ticket sold in Appleton

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Wisconsin lottery officials say a Powerball ticket sold in Appleton for this week's drawing is now worth a cool million dollars.

The main jackpot in Wednesday's drawing was $221 million.  That winning ticket was sold in Indiana.  But someone in Appleton got a nice consolation prize.  The million-dollar winner hasn't been identified.  If that person chooses to collect the winnings as a lump sum, the total would be about $670,000 after taxes.

The Appleton ticket matched all five winning numbers. But because the player also bought the Power Play prize-multiplier feature, the $200,000 prize  was multiplied by five.

Two tickets worth $10,000 each were also sold in Plymouth and Ripon.  The winners have 180 days to claim their prizes.
