Wis. man working on his truck fatally injured

TOWN OF BRADFORD, Wis. (AP) -- Rock County authorities say a man working on his truck was fatally injured when it started and ran him over.

The accident happened around noon Sunday in the Town of Bradford, about eight miles east of Janesville.

First responders found 47 year-old Paul J. Pope lying at the top of his driveway with severe head trauma. He died at the scene.

The sheriff's department says the investigation determined that Pope was standing in front of his 26,000-pound truck, attempting to work on the starter, when the ignition engaged and started the engine. The truck was in gear and traveled forward, running Pope over. The truck came to rest next to a small grove of trees.

No one was in the truck at the time, and Pope was working by himself.
