No injuries reported in Merrill so far, but lots of damage

MERRILL (WAOW) -- When the storm blew through the area, it made its mark on Northern Wire and the NTC buildings in Merrill, as well as numerous homes.

The general manager of Northern Wire confirmed the four people who were working there at the time are safe and police said no other injuries have been reported in the city as of 11PM on Sunday night.  The storm took its toll on the Northern Wire building as well as many others in the area.

Numerous trees had been knocked down, causing damage across the city. Buildings had their shingles ripped off and other damage done too. Neighbors were out surveying damage and checking on each other throughout the evening.

The storm knocked power out in some neighborhoods. Police advise people to stay in their homes and to not go looking for damage.

If you, or someone you know, needs somewhere to go, you can head to Fire Station #1. They are working with Red Cross to take care of people who have no where to stay.

Northern Wire workers don't need to report to work until their supervisors call, which they said they plan to do after they assess damage on Monday morning.
