Walker's first 100 days marked by tumult, success

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker's first 100 days in office has been marked by tumult.

Walker's push to eliminate most collective bargaining rights for nearly all public workers plunged the Capitol and the state into political chaos for weeks. While the bill passed the Republican-controlled Legislature, it remains hung up in court and has not taken effect.

Before the collective bargaining proposal, Walker succeeded in passing a number of bills with Democratic support to lower taxes on businesses and revamp the state's Commerce Department. Walker says his accomplishments have sent a message to employers that Wisconsin is a place where they should do business.

But the state Democratic Party says Walker's first 100 days have been a disgrace and he's torn Wisconsin apart.
