Merrill, WI-- What should have been a barn was just a slab of cement. What should have been homes were piles of rubble. Debris lined the properties and the streets.
The stuff inside blown all over the place creating a wild mess.
Families in the area watched from their basements as their lives were being torn apart.
The Lee family makes up the neighborhood on Row Street in Merrill.
They were all home when the storm blew through.
Most were huddled together, praying it would soon be over.
They say the storm ended as quickly as it came but as you can imagine it felt like it lasted a lifetime.
Members from the Lee family raced outside making sure that they were all safe. They said were so grateful the most important things were saved, like their pictures.
People from all over came to help out.
The family says that the outpour of the support from the community over the past couple days has been their saving grace.
They have had many volunteers helping clean up the mess.
The debris field spans for miles. Some pieces never being found.
Three of the four homes are being demolished, only one was pronounced structurally safe.
In spite of the wreckage the families do plan to re build, saying this is their home no matter what.
