MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- State officials say slightly fewer people died on snowmobiles this winter than a year ago.
The Department of Natural Resources says 17 people died, down from 21 during the 2009-2010 season.
DNR officials attribute the decline to a 55 mph nighttime speed limit and an up-and-down winter that saw two mid-season warm-ups that all but erased trails around the state.
