Teen burglar traps himself in Ashland

ASHLAND, Wis. (AP) -- Ashland Police Lt. Greg BeBeau thought he'd seen everything during his 25 years in law enforcement -- and then a teenager who had apparently trapped himself when committing a burglary called police for help.

The Daily Press of Ashland reports it happened just before midnight on Sunday when an 18-year-old Ashland man apparently climbed through the rafters to get into a locked garage behind the high school.

BeBeau says police aren't sure of the teen's motive, but there was an ATV in there. It appears the teen was trying to move a heavy trailer out of the way when a jack gave way and the trailer pinned his legs.

The teen was stuck and called for help just before midnight. Authorities got him out with only minor injuries, then took him to jail on a parole violation.
