Michael Haydon's attorney begins case for his defense

PORTAGE COUNTY (WAOW) -- Michael Haydon's attorney, Jeff Jazgar, addresses the jury defending the man accused of murdering a truck driver in 2003.

Jazgar told jurors that crime lab investigators didn't have any way to link his client to the scene of the crime. Not by fingerprints, palm prints, hair, DNA or anything else.

"If the perpetrator had entered with some type of weapon, there'd be some sort of indication or the likelihood that something would be found on the shell," said Jazgar.

Jazgar adds that investigators gathered nearly 200 pieces of evidence, none of which he says can be traced back to Haydon.

The district attorney said Haydon could have killed truck driver, Pat Zemke, after mistaking him for a man he thought his girlfriend had been hanging around with. The state finished presenting its case on Monday.
