Sharing secrets in Stevens Point

STEVENS POINT (WAOW) -- One of the world's most trusted strangers visited students at UW-Stevens Point to share a few secrets of his own.

Students waited in line for hours for a spot to see Frank Warren, the creator of the PostSecret project. Over the past five years, he's collected hundreds of thousand of postcards, sent in from all over the world.

To participate in the project, people send anonymous postcards to Warren's home address with a secret written on them that they've never told anyone else. Warren said the postcards are like art and he posts some of them on his website every Sunday.

"The more you hear the courage of others, really talking about those deep parts of themselves that maybe they've been hiding for a long time, I think that kind of courage and vulnerability can be inspiring," said Warren. "It can be contagious."

Warren's traveled to Stevens Point before. UWSP hosted one of his first PostSecret art exhibits.

Warren said he likes visiting college campuses because he thinks that age group can identify with having a secret and not knowing who to tell.
