Update: Police standoff over in Kronenwetter

KRONENWETTER (WAOW) - 41 year old armed man voluntarily surrendered himself to police. 

 Earlier Thursday, Kronenwetter police asked anyone in the West Road area in Kronenwetter to remain in their homes.  Anyone who sees any suspicious activity or a man about 6' tall with greying hair, possibly carrying a weapon to call 911.

Police say a 41 year old man called in a threat to the VA Clinic in Wausau and said he was going to come over with a rifle. He lives near Highway X in Kronenwetter.

Kronenwetter police chief Dan Joling says emergency crews are on the scene and will notify people in the area when the situation is safe.

Newsline 9 has a crew headed to the scene and will provide details as they become available.


Update 11:28am

Police tell Newsline 9 they believe the 41 year old man is barricaded in a trailer or camper at 2093 West Road in Kronenwetter.

Police say they believe the man has a shotgun and rifle.  They received a call about him from a family member at 9:30am.  As Kronenwetter police tried to make contact with him, he took off.

SWAT is on scene, as well as several area police departments.
