WAUSAU (WAOW)--This year's Exhibitour will be uncorked. That's because the Wausau city council voted to allow attendees to take their glass wine with them while walking downtown during the event.
The council voted 7-4 in favor of the exemption that prohibits drinking on city streets and sidewalks. It reverses last year's decision when the council voted down a similar request.
Council member Jim Brezinski says he voted "yes" because he has faith citizens won't abuse the change.
Opponents argue intoxicants on streets and sidewalks is illegal and no exceptions should be made. The event takes place in June.
