MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Wisconsin residents can get burning permits by dialing the phone or booting up their computers this year.
People can call the Department of Natural Resources at 1-888-WIS-BURN between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. daily. A customer service representative will issue the permit over the phone and it will be delivered either by email or traditional mail.
Permits are also now available on the DNR's website. And they're still available through local ranger stations and fire wardens.
All permits are free and good for the calendar year.
