Gas prices impact on car sales

Wausau (WAOW)--  Last time gas prices spiked, people raced to the dealerships to trade in their gas guzzlers for smaller, compact cars.

This time around however, that doesn't seem to be the case.

As gas prices continue to climb, Kocourek Ford and Lincoln sales have been better than ever.

New car sales have spiked because the price gap between a new car and a used car is very little.

The reason is used cars are harder to find.

General Manager of Kocourek Ford and Lincoln said that now really is the time to buy based on the price gap. It is the lowest he has seen in years.

Another reason for the sales increase is larger car companies are offering extremely low financing and interest rates on new cars.

Dealerships are offering deals as well. Making new cars more attractive and affordable to consumers.
