MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- A University of Minnesota student has died after he and two other people were struck by a hit-and-run driver on a sidewalk near Dinkytown in Minneapolis last week.
A spokeswoman for Hennepin County Medical Center released a statement saying 23-year-old Benjamin Van Handel of Appleton, Wis., "passed away with his family and friends by his side."
The statement says Van Handel's organs are being donated.
The Star Tribune reports Van Handel suffered a severe brain injury and broken bones. The others struck suffered minor injuries.
Minneapolis police say investigators continue to look for the driver.
