Good Friday observed with blood drive

Christians around the world observe Good Friday, marking the death of Jesus before his resurrection on Easter Sunday.

To mark the day Jesus shed his blood on the cross, New Day Christian Church in Weston holds its annual blood drive.

The congregation has no physical building of its own so its members usually worship at DC Everest Middle School.

Since they have no Good Friday service, they run this blood drive instead.

Amy Auner/Communication Director, New Day Christian Church: "Since He shed his blood for us, we decided a few years ago that we were going to create an event where we could. I mean there is no way to repay the favor but at least we can do something for the community that shows an act of worship for us."

This marks the 4th year for the blood drive.  It's always open to anyone in the community.
