MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Prince Fielder says he's ecstatic Ryan Braun received a $105 million, five-year extension, and hopes that the organization will make an effort to sign him to a long-term deal in the offseason.
Fielder is eligible for free agency at the end of the season and it's expected as a Scott Boras client he'll seek out a contract that dwarfs the one Braun just signed on Thursday.
Fielder says he's proud of Braun and not jealous that the franchise is retaining the All-Star left fielder through 2020.
Fielder and the organization have been committed to focusing only on this season, not contract talks. Fielder says he's good with his $15.5 million, one-year deal and wants to have a big year.
He's hitting .368 with three homers and an NL-best 19 RBIs so far.
