Irene Violet Christianson, age 89, Elderon, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away Friday, April 22, 2011 under the care of her family and Ministry Hospice, at Autumn Lane, Birnamwood. She was born January 18, 1922, the daughter of the late Joseph and Veronica (Jazdewski) Mientke. The eldest of four children, she lived on a farm in the township of Bevent. She met the love of her life, Bernhard Christianson in the Spring of 1941 and they married October 25th of that year.
Irene dedicated her life to Jehovah God and symbolized that by water baptism in 1947. She has helped many people to come to know and love Jehovah God and His Son Jesus Christ. The couple farmed in the township of Elderon from the time they were married until their retirement in the early 80's. She loved animals and her beautiful vegetable and flower gardens. She was a most generous person and was willing to share with all. Irene was preceded in death by her brother Richard, three sons, George, Gerald and David and one great grandchild. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Bernhard, her sons, Bernhard Chester (Marlene) Christianson and Joseph Christianson; her daughters, Jewell (Larry) Hoffman, Yvonne (Robert) Koon, Naomi (Bruce) Cannon, Brenda (David) Koon and daughter-in-law, Sonia Fox Christianson. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and two sisters, Tillie (Thaddeus) Mientke and Elsie Christianson. A Memorial Service will be held at 3 pm, Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness at 1086 State Road 49, Elderon. Mr. Walter Kalman will officiate.
