Wausau, WI (WAOW)-- Senator Herb Kohl highlighted his recent efforts to protect SeniorCare from cuts in the state budget.
His message was loud and clear when he spoke to a group at the Aging and Disability Resource Center in Wausau.
Last week he sent a letter to Govenor. Walker asking him to stop pursuing proposed changes to the prescription drug program.
He says the drug program saves seniors money by negotiating with pharmacies.
The Democrat also believes the cuts would impact Medicare, who can't negotiate drug discounts.
If SeniorCare is eliminated those seniors would have to be enrolled in Medicare and Kohl says seniors simply wouldn't be able to afford their medicines.
A Wausau family is turning their tragedy into hope for anyone struggling with thoughts of suicide.
