MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The NFL is welcoming a Minnesota Supreme Court decision that clears the way for suspending Minnesota Vikings defensive lineman Pat Williams.
NFL spokesman Greg Aiello says the decision puts an end to a closely watched anti-doping case that dates back to 2008, when Pat Williams and teammate Kevin Williams took a weight loss supplement they didn't know contained a banned diuretic.
The lawyer for the Williamses, Peter Ginsberg, declined to say the fight is over, but he expects the NFL will proceed with the four-game suspensions.
The high court this week declined to consider Pat Williams' appeal of a decision that had gone against them. Kevin Williams gave up the legal fight last month.
Ginsberg is praising the Williamses for having the strength and courage to fight the NFL.
