2 stabbed at block party in Madison


MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Two men have been stabbed at the Mifflin Street Block Party in Madison, including a University of Wisconsin-Madison student.

Police tell WISC-TV a 21-year-old UW-Madison student received life-threatening injuries after being stabbed multiple times at a West Mifflin Street resident just after 5 p.m. Saturday.

Officers witnessed a few people leaving the scene and detained three men, but no arrests have been made in the incidents and no names of victims had been released.

The second stabbing happened around 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Police say the male victim had non-life threatening injuries.

Police do not believe the two incidents are related.

The stabbing's part of a spike in violence that included 160 arrests.
