Wausau, WI (WAOW)-- Even with the weather, fisherman were out on Lake Wausau today. Bait and tackle in hand, hoping the fish were biting.
Today marked the official start to fishing season, even though some waters are open all year round. Fisherman jumped into their boats, ready to hit the open waters.
But for one fisherman, for him, it's just another day on the water.
Derek Jehn fishes all year round. He says he was raised with fishing and any day is a good day when you have a rod in your hand.
"I'm always excited for fishing. I love to fish and I have been doing it all year. Opening day is just another day for me."
A series of dead fish found in nearby lakes doesn't seem to be causing too much of a problem for fisherman. Some say its more about relaxing than anything else.
Now if only that weather could warm up anglers could really enjoy the season.
