FOND DU LAC, Wis. (AP) -- A Fond du Lac police officer wounded in a March shooting is set to return to work Monday.
Officer Ryan Williams will begin with limited duty. He will be re-evaluated in June
Williams was shot twice by a sexual assault suspect who killed another officer. The suspect eventually committed suicide.
A bullet ripped into the abdomen of Williams' police dog, Grendel, while the dog was sitting in a squad car.
Lt. Aaron Goldstein tells The Reporter (http://bit.ly/keR0AY) that police have a training program for the wounded dog.
Fond du Lac Police Officer Craig Birkholz was killed by the gunman. Williams was critically wounded.
