CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (AP) -- A Chippewa County sheriff's deputy has testified that he stopped a man from strangling his former girlfriend after the man shot and killed her new boyfriend.
Deputy Raymond Duncan testified in William Vollbrecht's homicide trial Monday in Chippewa County Circuit Court. Vollbrecht is accused of killing Christopher Farmer in May 2010. Duncan testified he was called to Farmer's Town of Layfayette home on a report of a gunshot. When he arrived, the deputy said he could hear a woman screaming, entered the home and found Vollbrecht and Tammy Clark struggling on the floor. Duncan said Vollbrecht had an arm around Clark's neck. The Chippewa Herald reports (http://bit.ly/m5or0w) Duncan told Vollbrecht to let her go and he did.
Prosecutors say Vollbrecht shot and killed Farmer out of jealousy. The trial is expected to resume Tuesday morning.
