WAUSAU (WAOW) -- More help on the way for victims of last month's tornados in Merrill, as some Wausau church-goers pitch in.
Members of St. Paul's United Church of Christ raised $2,000 for five families of their sister church, St. Stephen's, in Merrill.
Tom Riiser, a member of St. Paul's, agreed to match the funds, bringing the total to $4,000.
"Several of us in this congregation have history in Merrill so we saw a need and decided to do what we can to fill it," said St. Paul's UCC Council President Barry Jensen.
"It's just amazing how folks come together in a time of devastation and it's really good to see," said St. Stephen's UCC Minister Missy Holdorf.
Members of St. Paul's will keep collecting donations through the summer and send them to Merrill too. Money will be given to the five families to use as they need it.
