RED CLIFF, Wis. (AP) -- Authorities now say an 18-year-old man who died after falling from a Lake Superior cliff was allegedly pushed.
Bayfield County District Attorney Craig Haukaas said Monday he will file a complaint charging a 22-year-old Ashland man with second-degree reckless homicide and felony murder in the death of Marvin Charette III of Washburn.
A kayaker found Charette's body on shore in a small sea cave on the Red Cliff Reservation last July 5. He had been missing two days.
Authorities believed Charette was at a gathering of about 20 people on July 3, and that he got too close to a cliff edge and fell nearly 60 feet.
The Duluth News Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/jJYzbu) the sheriff's office submitted a criminal referral to the district attorney, alleging that Charette was actually pushed.
