Saratoga man rescues neighbor from storm

TOWNSHIP OF SARATOGA, WI (WAOW)--  Amidst all of the damage done by the storms there is one story of hope.

Jhae Larson came up from his basement after the storm had passed to asses the damage.  That's when he heard the screams for help ringing through the air.  He knew the screams were coming from his neighbor so he hopped the fence and rushed to her side.

"Naturally as soon as I heard the screams I just rushed over and tried to assist her," Larson says.

When Larson got there he found his neighbor lying in the mud.  She'd been struck by her garage door. It had gotten ripped off in the storm and flew right through her car windshield, pinning her against her seat.

To Larson's family he is a hero.

"It feels good to have a hero in the family," Larson's son Jake said.

But he has always been a hero to his children.

"Even before this happened he always has been. He has done so much for us and we've always looked up to him," Kylie Larson says of her Dad.

The Larson family suffered storm damage of their own.  They had their entire garage roof ripped off and a piece of the roof from their home.

"It's going to be a mess for a while," Larson says. "But we have good friends and we will get it cleaned up one day at a time."

Larson is glad his neighbor is okay. He said according to family his neighbor is okay and although she suffered serious injuries she is in stable condition at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.
