FOREST COUNTY (WAOW) -- The Crandon couple accused of running a puppy mill in their home want the same judge to hear their cases.
Jackie Johnson, 70, made her first court appearance in Forest County Court this morning.
She and her husband, John, are each charged with fourteen counts of animal mistreatment. He has not yet appeared in court.
Investigators say back in April they found twenty-five dogs in their home. Those dogs were taken to the Forest County Humane Society.
Suzie Sturzl with the Forest County Humane Society says, "They were really matted. They had a lot of hook worms. They were unsocialized. They were in feces. They were in really poor shape."
Sturzl says the dogs were all toy breeds. They were all adopted to new homes less than two weeks after the bust.
