MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Madison fire department inspectors say added security measures at the Capitol building violate fire safety code.
Wisconsin Public Radio reports that Madison fire officials found multiple locked exit doors violated city fire safety ordinances.
Fire department spokeswoman Lori Wirth says those and other violations could cause confusion and panic for those trying to leave in an emergency.
A spokeswoman for the state Department of Administration says changes are being made to allow for an easier exit from the building and other concerns raised in the inspection will be investigated.
Department Secretary Mike Huebsch previously said there are no plans to reduce Capitol security measures until issues surrounding the collective bargaining bill are resolved.
A hearing on a lawsuit over Capitol access is scheduled for Friday.
Warmer, more humid, and unsettled weather pattern develops next week.
