Neillsville Man Charged In Double Murder


SPARTA, Wis. (AP) -- A man has been bound over for trial in the 2002 homicides of a couple in Monroe County.

Larry Schaffer, of Neillsville, is charged with two counts each of first-degree intentional homicide and hiding a corpse, all as a party to the crime.

A criminal complaint says police arrested the 42-year-old in January after he bragged about killing 34-year-old Connie DeGeorge as her husband 30-year-old Kale Kvistad Jr. over drugs.

The La Crosse Tribune reported ( ) the judge also ordered he be examined for competency after entering a plea of not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect.

His sister, Eunice Hogan, testified Thursday at a preliminary hearing that she saw him sexually assault DeGeorge, before shooting the pair in some woods.
