KING (WAOW) -- Flags lined the streets outside the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, where many came to remember those who fought so bravely years ago.
Taking part in a time-honored tradition, people of all ages gathered, both on land and on the lake, to watch as representatives lowered wreaths into the water.
"It is the largest veteran's home in the nation and it's an honor to honor the veterans here at such a prestigious place," said keynote speaker Duane Miskulin.
"We are here to support the veterans of Wisconsin on Memorial Day," said Dan Naylor, who is on the Wisconsin Board of Veteran Affairs. "Those who have given the ultimate sacrifice to our country."
The Waupaca 8th grade band played a rendition of "Nearer My God To Thee," and members of the Veterans Home Honor Guard paid their respects by shooting off volleys.
