(CNN)--The Atlantic hurricane season officially begins today.
Forecasters at Colorado State University say there's about a three-in-four chance that a "major" hurricane will hit the U-S before the season ends in November.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration expects three to six major hurricanes to form over the Atlantic this year... an above-average season.
It predicts as many as 18 named storms.
Last year, *no* hurricanes made landfall on U-S coastlines.
