WISCONSIN (WAOW)--The Wisconsin Brewer's Guild is pushing back against part of Governor Walker's proposed budget. The group says it will effect their micro-breweries.
The Guild members say large beer companies, like Millercoors, support a provision that takes away the right to hold a retail license. They say this will eliminate competition for the bigger businesses.
Guild members also say if the provision is passed -- smaller breweries won't be able to start up, while others will lose money.
"We're trying to let our local legislators know to get them injected into the process so that things remain fair for us and that they don't actually try and change our business model without any kind of debate," says brewmaster Mike Zamzow.
The legislature's Joint Finance Committee voted yesterday to pass the provision into the budget. The full legislature is expected to take up the budget June 15th.
