Bald eagles making comeback in Sheboygan County

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) -- It appears bald eagles are making a comeback in Sheboygan County.

The Sheboygan Press ( ) reports Sunday that an aerial survey by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has confirmed two nesting pairs of bald eagles and a total of three eaglets in Sheboygan County.

The adults have been using the nests since 2008.

Heinz Mueller has property in the town of Mosel, where one of the nests is. He says it's fantastic to watch the eagles and their babies.

Data kept by the Cedar Grove Ornithological Research Station shows bald eagles have been a rarity in Sheboygan County since at least the 1930s. Volunteers at the facility track sightings of birds of prey.
