Pilot suffered minor injuries in jet crash

NEW CHESTER (AP) -- The pilot of an F-16 fighter jet that crashed in central Wisconsin has been flying that type of plane for 20 years.

Wisconsin National Guard spokeswoman Jackie Guthrie says the pilot also has flown several combat tours but declined to elaborate. She says he ejected safely and suffered only minor injuries. She declined to release his name.

The Wisconsin Air National Guard jet took off from Truax Field in Madison onTuesday and crashed into a vacant vacation home in the Adams County town of New Chester. The house was destroyed and 10 acres burned. The plane wasn't carrying any live ammunition.

Guthrie says investigators could take up to 90 days to determine the cause of the crash.
