Tornado touchdown confirmed near Verona, McFarland


VERONA, Wis. (AP) -- The National Weather Service confirms a tornado packing winds of up to 90 mph touched down in south-central Wisconsin.

The tornado touched down Wednesday night near Verona and uprooted trees and downed power lines along a 15-mile path before lifting near McFarland.

Meteorologist Marcia Cronce tells the Wisconsin State Journal the tornado was on the ground for about 20 minutes.  Cronce says the tornado was rated an EF1.  She says no injuries or structural damage were reported.
