STEVENS POINT (WAOW) -- Stevens Point emergency crews held a training simulation Tuesday.
The simulation involved two gunmen who took several students and teachers hostage.
City and county S.W.A.T. teams worked with paramedics to clear rooms, as well as rescue those hostages.
Portage County Emergency Management received a $20,000 grant to fund the program.
Law enforcement leaders say the program is important, because it helps city and county emergency responders communicate with one another.
Roughly 100 people gathered in Columbia Park in Marshfield Tuesday evening for a vigil in response to the events in Charlottesville Saturday.
