Daniel J. Jahnke 82 of Milan, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2011 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield in the palliative care unit.. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 30, 2011 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Milan. Father Charles Hiebl will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at the Maurina Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church in Milan. Burial will be in St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery in Milan. Pallbearers will be Ben Jahnke, Shane Soyk, Jameson Lulloff, Shannon Halopka, Josh Weiler and Tate O'Kelly. Honorary Pallbearers will be Trent Olsen, Trae Olsen, Nicholas Halopka, Erik Ackerman and Joseph Ackerman.

Daniel was born March 13, 1929 in the Town of Johnson, Marathon County to Martin and Mary (Bargander) Jahnke. He attended Dixon Grade School in the Town of Johnson. Daniel entered the US Marine Corps in 1952. After his honorable discharge he married Florence Pietrowski on August 21, 1954 at Saint John's Catholic Church, Wuerzburg , living in Wausau and working for Metz Roofing and moving to Milan and working for Kraft Foods as a cheesemaker for 33 years. Daniel then worked for Stauske Sawmill and later with his son David on construction. He also worked for the Milan Sanitary District. Daniel enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially camping at Rib Lake and spending time at his hunting land at Jump River.

Daniel is lovingly survived by his wife; Florence, his children; Mary (Ralph) Bredl of Bella Vista, AR, David (Laurie) Jahnke of Athens, Nancy (James Jr.) Lulloff of Owen, Denise (Robert) Frykland and Polly (Doug) Ackerman of Withee 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren

Daniel is preceded in death by his parents, brother; Norman Jahnke sister; Amelia Voight and grandson; Troy Olsen.
