Dorothy A. Elliott, 92, of Wausau, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, June 27, 2011 at Wausau Manor under AseraCare Hospice.
Dorothy was born on Sept. 2, 1918 in Mosinee, to Walter & Anna Vetter. She married Charles J. "Chuck" Elliott on Sept. 14, 1940.
She retired from Wausau Insurance as Fleet Administrator for 1,893 automobiles on Feb. 28, 1982 after a total of 20 years with the company.
Dorothy enjoyed dancing, reading, sewing, bridge and other card and board games, continuing to walk a mile a day until she turned 90. She was also a terrific cook and baker. She was a member of St. Mary's and St. James Catholic churches, Catholic Women's Club, Elks Club, and the Catholic Society of Foresters.
She is survived by five children, Mary L. (Werner) Kautz, Wausau, Judith A. Elliott, Walnut Creek, Calif., Charles J. (Pat) Elliott, Janesville, Laura J. (Dave) Elliott, Wausau, and Richard J. (Rhonda) Elliott, Kewaskum; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy is also survived by many friends at Forest Park Village where she lived for almost 12 years and was known as the "cookie lady."
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Irene Spatz and Virginia Ahles; and one grandchild.
Funeral mass will be held at 12 noon Tuesday July 5, 2011 at Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, 621 2nd St., Wausau. Rev. James Schaefer will officiate. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of mass at the church on Tuesday.
