Walker to discuss plans for new energy research

GLENDALE, Wis. (AP) -- Gov. Scott Walker and several University of Wisconsin officials are expected to announce a research partnership involving energy storage.

The officials will hold two news conferences Thursday -- one in the morning in Glendale and the other in the afternoon in Madison.

They're expected to discuss a statewide partnership between UW schools and Johnson Controls Inc. The new research venture would include new faculty and laboratory space at UW-Madison and UW-Milwaukee.

Others scheduled to be at the news conferences include UW System President Kevin Reilly, the UW-Madison provost and the UW-Milwaukee chancellor.

Milwaukee-based Johnson Controls makes battery units, auto parts and heating and cooling systems for large buildings.
