One dead, one hurt in ultra-light plane crash

WAUSHARA COUNTY (WAOW) -- Waushara County investigators say one person is dead and one hurt after an ultra-light plane crash.

Investigators say the crash happened around 7:45 PM, Wednesday, in a wooded area near the end of Lucerne Terrace Drive in the Town of Marion.

The Challenger II had two occupants during the flight.  The aircraft was capable of being flown from the seat of either occupant.

Gregory J. Klemp, 61, from rural Neshkoro was airlifted from the scene to Theda Clark Medical Center by Theda Star helicopter for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Gordon H. Sheveland, 79, from Lake Wales, Florida and Oshkosh, Wisconsin was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Waushara County Coroner.

The Waushara County Sheriff's Office has contacted FAA.  The FAA will be conducting further investigation of the crash.
