UPDATE: One arrest made in Wausau standoff

WAUSAU (WAOW)--  A 49-year old male is arrested after an overnight standoff with Wausau police.

Investigators say the call came in around 10:15 Thursday night to 1315 3rd Street in downtown Wausau.

Wausau police say that the man was waving a gun at two teenagers after an altercation. The teenagers then called the police.

When police arrived at the home the suspect was unresponsive. The Marathon County SWAT team was called to the scene. Upon arrival they set up a perimeter and tried to contact the suspect through telephone and loudspeaker.

Police say the man allegedly fell asleep in his home and did not know police were trying to contact him.  The loudspeaker woke him up.  The suspect came to the back door and was immediately apprehended by police.

The weapon turned out to be a BB gun.

The suspect's name has not yet been released.  The investigation is ongoing.  The suspect did claim that he was only waving the gun to try to scare the kids off after they were harassing him.

Newsline 9 reporters watched as the Marathon County SWAT team swarmed the home at 1315 3rd street.  A man was lead from a home in handcuffs.

Homes and businesses in the area were placed on lock down.  Dozens of onlookers watched as the scene unfolded.
