MN Government Shuts Down

(CNN)--The Minnesota government was forced to shut down today, after state lawmakers failed to reach a budget agreement before their midnight deadline.

This is the second shut down in six years.

The impact on this 4th of July weekend is already being seen.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation has closed more than 80 highway rest stops.

State parks and the zoo are also set to be closed.

Republicans are accusing Governor Mark Dayton of giving up too soon.

Dayton wants to raise taxes on the wealthiest Minnesotans, as well as cut spending.

Republicans had proposed passing a temporary funding bill while they worked out their remaining differences with Dayton.
